పశ్చిమాసియాలో ఉద్రిక్త పరిస్థితుల ప్రభావంతో ముడి చమురు ధరలు పెరుగుతున్న నేపథ్యంలో దేశీయంగా ఇంధన రంగంలో కీలక మార్పులకు కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం శ్రీకారం చుట్టింది. ఇరాన్–ఇజ్రాయెల్ యుద్ధ ప్రభావంతో ప్రపంచవ్యాప్తంగా చమురు సరఫరాలో అంతరాయం ఏర్పడటంతో పెట్రోల్, డీజిల్ ధరలపై ఒత్తిడి పెరిగింది.
ఈ పరిస్థితులను దృష్టిలో ఉంచుకుని కేంద్రం ఇకపై ప్రతి 15 రోజులకు ఒకసారి ఇంధన ధరలను సమీక్షించనున్నట్లు ప్రకటించింది. అంతర్జాతీయ మార్కెట్ పరిస్థితులకు అనుగుణంగా ధరలను సవరించనున్నట్లు తెలిపింది.
ఇటీవలే పెట్రోల్, డీజిల్పై ఎక్సైజ్ డ్యూటీని గణనీయంగా తగ్గించిన కేంద్రం, ఆయిల్ మార్కెటింగ్ కంపెనీలకు ఉపశమనం కల్పించే చర్యలు చేపట్టింది. పెట్రోల్పై ఎక్సైజ్ డ్యూటీని రూ.13 నుంచి రూ.3కు తగ్గించగా, డీజిల్పై పూర్తిగా తొలగించింది.
సెంట్రల్ బోర్డ్ ఆఫ్ ఇండైరెక్ట్ టాక్సెస్ అండ్ కస్టమ్స్ ఛైర్మన్ వివేక్ చతుర్వేది మాట్లాడుతూ, అంతర్జాతీయ పరిస్థితుల కారణంగా ఆయిల్ కంపెనీలు నష్టాలను ఎదుర్కొంటున్నాయని తెలిపారు. ఈ నేపథ్యంలో స్పెషల్ అడిషనల్ ఎక్సైజ్ డ్యూటీ తగ్గింపు నిర్ణయం తీసుకున్నట్లు చెప్పారు.
ఈ చర్యల వల్ల ప్రభుత్వానికి 15 రోజుల్లో సుమారు రూ.7 వేల కోట్ల ఆదాయం తగ్గే అవకాశం ఉన్నప్పటికీ, ఎగుమతులపై విధించిన సుంకాల ద్వారా రూ.1500 కోట్ల వరకు ఆదాయం వచ్చే అవకాశముందని తెలిపారు.
ప్రస్తుతం తెలంగాణలోని హైదరాబాద్ నగరంలో పెట్రోల్ ధర లీటరుకు రూ.107.46గా, డీజిల్ ధర రూ.95.70గా కొనసాగుతోంది. రిటైల్ ధరల్లో తక్షణ మార్పులు లేకపోయినా, భవిష్యత్తులో 15 రోజుల వ్యవధిలో మార్పులు చోటుచేసుకునే అవకాశం ఉంది.

Amid rising global crude oil prices due to escalating tensions in West Asia, the Central Government has initiated key policy changes in India’s fuel pricing system. The ongoing Iran–Israel conflict has disrupted global oil supply chains, pushing crude prices significantly higher and creating pressure on domestic fuel markets.
In response, the Centre has announced that petrol and diesel prices will now be reviewed every 15 days. This move aims to align domestic fuel prices more closely with international market trends and manage volatility more effectively.
The government has already reduced excise duty on petrol and diesel to ease the burden on oil marketing companies. Excise duty on petrol has been cut from ₹13 to ₹3 per litre, while diesel excise duty has been reduced to zero.
According to CBIC Chairman Vivek Chaturvedi, oil companies have been facing losses due to global price fluctuations and supply disruptions. The reduction in Special Additional Excise Duty (SAED) is intended to provide financial relief to these companies.
While the government is expected to incur a revenue loss of around ₹7,000 crore over 15 days due to duty cuts, it anticipates earning nearly ₹1,500 crore through export duties on diesel and aviation turbine fuel.
Currently, retail fuel prices remain unchanged. In Hyderabad, Telangana, petrol is priced at ₹107.46 per litre, while diesel costs ₹95.70 per litre. However, with the new review mechanism, price revisions may occur every fortnight depending on global market conditions.
