Hyderabad Metro–RTC Common Pass Fares Under Review After Commuter Complaints

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has decided to review the fares of the Metro–RTC Common Pass following complaints from commuters that the prices are too high. Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said a meeting with senior officials would be held soon to examine the fare structure and consider making the pass more affordable.

Monthly Pass Priced at ₹8,500

The current daily common pass costs ₹400, comprising ₹300 for Metro services and ₹100 for TGSRTC buses. The monthly pass is priced at ₹8,500, including ₹7,000 for Metro travel and ₹1,500 for RTC services.

Several commuters have questioned whether the monthly pass offers sufficient savings compared with their regular travel expenses. The pricing has also attracted criticism from passengers who say the cost is burdensome for middle-class households.

Government to Consider Passenger Feedback

The government plans to reconsider the fare structure based on public feedback and actual commuting requirements. The review follows suggestions from Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, according to Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar.

The government aims to strengthen public transport and encourage commuters to use both Metro rail and RTC buses without placing an additional financial burden on them.

Revised Fares Yet to Be Announced

The government has not yet announced the revised prices or confirmed the extent of any reduction. Commuters will have to wait for an official decision following consultations with senior officials.
