Malkajgiri Police have warned the public against fake Diwali gift offers and reward links circulating on WhatsApp and social media. Residents have been advised not to click suspicious links or disclose sensitive banking information to claim gifts.
The warning highlights the risk of cyber fraud involving fraudulent festive offers that may trick users into revealing personal information or financial credentials.
Do Not Share OTPs or UPI PINs
Police have advised people not to share one-time passwords (OTPs), UPI PINs or personal banking details with anyone claiming to offer gifts or rewards.
Residents should avoid opening suspicious links and verify promotional offers through the official websites or communication channels of the organisations concerned.
Report Cyber Fraud Immediately
Anyone who becomes a victim of cyber fraud should immediately call the 1930 national cybercrime helpline or submit a complaint through the official National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
Victims should also preserve transaction details and relevant messages and promptly inform their bank about any unauthorised transactions.
Police Urge Public Vigilance
Malkajgiri Police have urged residents to remain alert during the festive season and exercise caution when dealing with unexpected gift messages and reward offers.
Verifying offers through official sources and refusing to disclose confidential banking credentials can help reduce the risk of online financial fraud.
