Hyundai Motor India Engineering (HMIE) is planning an investment of ₹8,528 crore to establish a research and development centre at Zaheerabad in Telangana, with a target of creating 4,276 jobs.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy met a delegation led by HMIE Managing Director Changyeon Cho at the MCR HRD Bodhi Pavilion in Hyderabad. The Chief Minister assured the company of the state government’s support in expediting the proposed facility at the National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) in Zaheerabad.

The project will be developed in phases across 678 acres. The company said preparations for the foundation stone-laying ceremony are expected to be completed in the coming months. The facility is expected to play a key role in vehicle testing, performance validation and improvements in engineering processes.

Revanth Reddy highlighted Telangana’s central location, Hyderabad’s skilled workforce and the state’s road, rail and air connectivity as advantages for industrial investment. He also pointed to planned mobility clusters, regional development initiatives and the proposed Bharat Future City as factors that could strengthen the state’s manufacturing ecosystem.

The engagement between Telangana and Hyundai began during the World Economic Forum meetings in 2024, when the state delegation held discussions with the company’s representatives to attract investment. In June 2025, the state’s Cabinet Sub-Committee on Industrial and Investment Promotion approved the proposed R&D centre.

Hyundai already operates an engineering research and development facility in Hyderabad’s HITEC City. The proposed Zaheerabad centre, along with a large vehicle testing facility, is expected to expand the company’s engineering capabilities in India.

The Chief Minister invited Hyundai’s leadership team to participate in the Invest Telangana Global Summit 2026. Changyeon Cho said the company would continue to contribute to Telangana’s development.

Chief Minister’s Adviser and Ex-officio Special Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, Sangareddy District Collector Prateek Jain and other senior officials attended the meeting.
