World Breastfeeding Week Celebrated at Telangana Social Welfare Women’s Degree College in Shamirpet

మెడికల్ ఆఫీసర్ డా. భాగ్యలక్ష్మి తల్లి, శిశు ఆరోగ్యానికి సంబంధించిన సూచనలు అందించగా, ఎన్ఎస్ఎస్ కార్యక్రమ అధికారి డా. కె. అనిత యువతలో తల్లిపాలపై అవగాహన పెంపొందించడం సమాజానికి అవసరమని పేర్కొన్నారు.
వక్తృత్వ పోటీల్లో 20 మంది విద్యార్థినులు ఉత్సాహంగా పాల్గొన్నారు. పూజిత ప్రథమ బహుమతి, యజ్ఞశ్రీ ద్వితీయ బహుమతిని అందుకున్నారు. విజేతలకు బహుమతులు, పాల్గొన్న వారందరికీ ధృవపత్రాలు అందజేశారు.
కార్యక్రమంలో అధ్యాపకులు డా. ఎం. కీర్తి, ఎం. సరిత, సంధ్యారాణి, డా. అమ్తుల్ తదితరులు, విద్యార్థినులు పాల్గొన్నారు.

World Breastfeeding Week 2026 was observed with awareness programmes and an elocution competition at the Telangana Social Welfare Women’s Degree College, Shamirpet, Medchal-Malkajgiri district, on Tuesday. The event was organised under the theme “Strengthen Breastfeeding Practices”.
The programme was jointly organised by the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) Telangana State Branch, Twin Cities Branch of IAP (TCB-IAP) and the National Neonatology Forum – Telangana State Chapter.
Chief guest Dr. Ramesh Babu Dampuri, President of the Twin Cities Branch of IAP, addressed the students on the importance of breastfeeding, its role in protecting maternal and child health, and its contribution to building a healthier society.
Medical Officer Dr. Bhagyalakshmi shared health guidance with the students, while NSS Programme Officer Dr. K. Anita highlighted the need to create greater awareness among young people about maternal and child health.
A total of 20 students participated enthusiastically in the elocution competition. Poojitha secured the first prize, while Yagnashree won the second prize. Winners received prizes, and participation certificates were distributed to all contestants.
Faculty members Dr. M. Keerthi, M. Saritha, Sandhya Rani, Dr. Amtul, and students attended the programme.
