Telangana will experience widespread heavy rains over the next two days, with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a red alert for several districts. The weather department has advised people to remain cautious.
According to the Hyderabad Meteorological Centre, a red alert has been issued for Sangareddy, Medak, Vikarabad, Medchal, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Khammam, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Bhupalpally, and Mulugu districts. Orange alerts have been announced for Hyderabad, Hanumakonda, Adilabad, Jangaon, Kamareddy, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Mahabubabad, Mancherial, Nalgonda, Ranga Reddy, Siddipet, and Warangal. Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Peddapalli, and Karimnagar are under yellow alert.
Officials said the intensity of rainfall will be higher in the North Telangana districts. Heavy to very heavy rains are expected in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts. Within GHMC limits, a red alert is in place today and an orange alert tomorrow.
The IMD explained that a low-pressure area has formed over the west-central Bay of Bengal, leading to the likelihood of heavy rains across Telangana for the next four days. On the 17th, North Telangana districts are expected to witness even heavier rainfall. Authorities have urged the public to take all necessary precautions in view of the forecast.
