అమెరికాలో బాలికలపై లైంగిక వేధింపులకు పాల్పడి 35 ఏళ్ల జైలు శిక్ష అనుభవిస్తున్న తెలంగాణ యువకుడు సాయికుమార్, తీవ్ర మనస్తాపంతో జైలు లోపలే ఉరివేసుకుని ఆత్మహత్య చేసుకున్నాడు. చైల్డ్ పోర్నోగ్రఫీ కేసులో అతడికి 420 నెలల శిక్ష పడింది.
A Telangana youth, who was sentenced to 35 years in a US prison on charges of child pornography and sexual abuse of minors, died by suicide in jail after reportedly suffering from mental distress. He was identified as Saikumar, originally from Jangaon district.
పదేళ్ల క్రితం ఉన్నత చదువు కోసం అమెరికా వెళ్లిన జనగామ జిల్లా లింగాలఘణపురానికి చెందిన సాయికుమార్ (31), చదువు పూర్తయిన తర్వాత ఉద్యోగం సంపాదించి ఒక్లహామా రాష్ట్రంలోని ఎడ్మండ్‌లో జీవించేవాడు. బంధువుల అమ్మాయితో ప్రేమించి, రెండు సంవత్సరాల క్రితం వివాహం చేసుకున్నాడు.
కానీ, కోవిడ్‌ లాక్‌డౌన్ సమయంలో ఆయనపై చిన్నారులను టార్గెట్ చేస్తూ వారితో మభ్యపెట్టి నగ్న వీడియోలు తీసుకున్నట్లు ఆరోపణలు వచ్చాయి. స్నాప్‌చాట్‌ ద్వారా పదిహేనేళ్ల బాలుడిలా నటించి మైనర్లతో పరిచయాలు పెంచుకున్నాడు. వారితో చాటింగ్, వీడియోల మార్పిడి జరిపి, ఆ తర్వాత లైంగిక వేధింపులకు పాల్పడ్డాడు.
సాయికుమార్ తాను చేస్తోన్న దుశ్చర్యల్ని ఒప్పుకున్న నేపథ్యంలో కోర్టు అతడికి 420 నెలల (సుమారు 35 సంవత్సరాలు) జైలు శిక్ష విధించింది. న్యాయమూర్తి చార్లెస్ గుడ్విన్ ఈ ఏడాది మార్చి 27న తీర్పు వెల్లడించారు.
తీర్పుతో తీవ్ర మానసిక ఒత్తిడికి గురైన సాయికుమార్, జూలై 26న జైలులో ఉరేసుకుని ఆత్మహత్యకు పాల్పడ్డాడు. ఈ ఘటన ఆలస్యంగా వెలుగులోకి వచ్చింది. అతడి మృతదేహాన్ని భారత్‌కు తరలించేందుకు అమెరికా అధికారులు అనుమతించకపోవడంతో, తల్లిదండ్రులే అమెరికాకు వెళ్లి అంత్యక్రియలు నిర్వహించాల్సి వచ్చింది.
After the tragic incident, Saikumar’s parents, relatives, and community members in Telangana are in deep shock. Although he was convicted in the child abuse case, the manner of his death by suicide in jail has left his family devastated. Meanwhile, authorities from the US prison department reportedly informed his family that his body cannot be transported to India. With no other option, his grieving parents traveled to America for the last rites. The community in his hometown expressed sorrow and said that though Saikumar made a grave mistake, his suicide has brought immense pain to the family.
