Jawaharlal Nehru remains India’s longest-serving Prime Minister, holding office for 16 years and 286 days from August 15, 1947, to May 27, 1964. Political analysts believe that Nehru’s record is unlikely to be broken anytime soon. Before becoming Prime Minister, Modi served as the Chief Minister of Gujarat for 14 years from 2001 to 2014.
