పశ్చిమ బెంగాల్ రాజధాని కోల్కతాలో మరో దారుణం చోటుచేసుకుంది. ఆర్జీకర్ ఆస్పత్రిలో జూనియర్ వైద్యురాలిపై జరిగిన లైంగిక దాడి మరువక ముందే, మరో విద్యార్థినిపై సామూహిక అత్యాచారం జరిగింది. ఈ ఘటన దేశవ్యాప్తంగా తీవ్ర స్థాయిలో సంచలనంగా మారింది.
ఈ నెల 25వ తేదీన, దక్షిణ కోల్కతాలోని కస్బాలో ఉన్న లా కళాశాలలో, ముగ్గురు వ్యక్తులు సెక్యూరిటీ రూంలో విద్యార్థినిపై అత్యాచారానికి ఒడిగట్టారు. నిందితుల్లో ఇద్దరు కళాశాల సిబ్బంది కాగా, మరొకరు పూర్వ విద్యార్థి అని పోలీసులు తెలిపారు. బాధితురాలు పెళ్లికి నిరాకరించిందనే కారణంగా ఈ దాడికి పాల్పడ్డట్లు అనుమానం వ్యక్తమవుతోంది.
కేసు నమోదు చేసిన పోలీసులు నిందితులను అరెస్ట్ చేశారు. మోనోజిత్ మిశ్రా (31), తృణమూల్ కాంగ్రెస్కు చెందిన వ్యక్తిగా గుర్తించగా, మరో ఇద్దరు జైబ్ అహ్మద్ (19), ప్రమిత్ ముఖర్జీ (20)గా పోలీసులు వెల్లడించారు. నిందితులపై ఐదు రోజుల పోలీస్ కస్టడీ విధించారు.
ఈ ఘటనపై బీజేపీ నేతలు తీవ్రంగా స్పందిస్తున్నారు. మమతా బెనర్జీ పాలనలో మహిళలకు రక్షణ లేదని, మహిళలపై అఘాయిత్యాలు రోజు రోజుకు పెరిగిపోతున్నాయని బీజేపీ నాయకుడు అమిత్ మాలవీయా ఎక్స్లో పోస్ట్ చేశారు.

Another horrific crime has surfaced in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. Following the recent sexual assault of a junior doctor at RG Kar Hospital, yet another disturbing case has emerged — this time involving the gangrape of a law student inside a college security room.
The incident took place on June 25 at a law college in South Kolkata’s Kasba area. According to police, three accused — two staff members and one former student — allegedly committed the crime. Preliminary investigation suggests the attackers acted out of revenge, as the victim reportedly rejected a marriage proposal.
Police filed a case the next day and arrested the accused. One of the suspects, Monojit Mishra (31), is reportedly linked to the Trinamool Congress party, sparking political outrage. The other two were identified as Jaib Ahmad (19) and Pramith Mukherjee (20). The accused have been remanded to five-day police custody.
BJP leaders have strongly condemned the incident. BJP’s Amit Malviya stated on X that crimes against women are increasing under Mamata Banerjee’s rule, and that Bengal has become increasingly unsafe for women.
