In view of incessant heavy rains lashing Hyderabad, Cyberabad police have advised IT and corporate employees to work from home, urging residents to remain alert for their safety.
హైదరాబాద్ మహానగరాన్ని గత కొన్ని రోజులుగా భారీ వర్షాలు ముంచెత్తుతున్నాయి. ముఖ్యంగా మంగళవారం అర్థరాత్రి తర్వాత ఎడతెరిపి లేకుండా కురుస్తున్న వర్షాలతో పలు ప్రాంతాలు జలమయమయ్యాయి. ట్రాఫిక్ రద్దీ, ప్రజల భద్రతను దృష్టిలో ఉంచుకొని, అత్యవసర సేవలకు అంతరాయం కలగకుండా చూడటానికి సైబరాబాద్ జాయింట్ కమిషనర్ అలెర్ట్ ప్రకటించారు.
ఈ పరిస్థితుల మధ్య సైబరాబాద్ పోలీసు శాఖ కీలక సూచనలను విడుదల చేసింది. బుధవారం నాడు ఐటీ, కార్పొరేట్ కంపెనీలు వర్క్ ఫ్రం హోమ్ విధానాన్ని అమలు చేయాలని కోరింది. ఉద్యోగులు వర్షంలో ఇబ్బందులు పడకుండా ఇంటినుంచే పనిచేసే అవకాశం కల్పించాలని సూచించింది. సంస్థలు, ఉద్యోగులు పోలీసులకు సహకరిస్తున్నందుకు కృతజ్ఞతలు తెలిపారు.
ఇక వాతావరణ శాఖ హైదరాబాద్, రంగారెడ్డి, మేడ్చల్ మల్కాజ్‌గిరి జిల్లాల్లో హై అలెర్ట్ ప్రకటించింది. బుధవారం పలు ప్రాంతాల్లో భారీ నుంచి అతి భారీ వర్షాలు కురిసే అవకాశం ఉందని తెలిపింది. గత 24 గంటల్లో షేక్‌పేట్, లంగర్‌హౌస్‌లో భారీ వర్షపాతం నమోదైంది. పలు ప్రధాన రహదారులు, ఫ్లైఓవర్‌లపై నీరు నిలిచిపోయింది. గచ్చిబౌలి, హైటెక్ సిటీ, మాదాపూర్, కొండాపూర్ తదితర ఐటీ హబ్ ప్రాంతాల్లో ట్రాఫిక్ పూర్తిగా స్థంభించిపోయింది.
కొన్ని కొత్త ఫ్లైఓవర్‌లపై వరద నీరు నిలిచిన నేపథ్యంలో వాటి నిర్మాణ నాణ్యతపై సందేహాలు వ్యక్తమవుతున్నాయి. అలాగే ఓపెన్ మ్యాన్‌హోల్స్ ప్రమాదకరంగా మారాయని స్థానికులు పేర్కొంటున్నారు. వరద నీటిని తొలగించేందుకు జీహెచ్‌ఎంసీ, డిజాస్టర్ రెస్పాన్స్ ఫోర్స్ బృందాలు కృషి చేస్తున్నాయి. లోతట్టు ప్రాంతాల్లోని ప్రజలు అప్రమత్తంగా ఉండాలని, అవసరం లేకపోతే ఇళ్ల నుంచి బయటకు రావద్దని అధికారులు స్పష్టం చేశారు.

Hyderabad has been witnessing heavy rains over the past few days. Since midnight on Tuesday, relentless downpours have left several parts of the city waterlogged. Considering the increasing traffic congestion and public safety, Cyberabad Joint Commissioner declared an alert to ensure emergency services remain uninterrupted.
As part of precautionary measures, the Cyberabad police issued key advisories on Wednesday. IT and corporate companies were asked to implement work-from-home (WFH) policies for the day. The objective is to allow employees to work safely from their homes without facing commuting difficulties due to flooded roads. Police also expressed gratitude to organizations and citizens for cooperating with their advisory.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a high alert for Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in several areas throughout Wednesday. In the past 24 hours, intense rainfall was recorded in localities like Shaikpet and Langar Houz. Major roads and flyovers remain submerged in several parts of the city.
The IT corridor areas such as Gachibowli, Hitec City, Madhapur, and Kondapur experienced severe traffic snarls due to waterlogging. Employees were reportedly stuck on the roads for hours. Concerns have also been raised about the quality of newly constructed flyovers like the PJR and Kothaguda flyovers, as rainwater accumulated on their surfaces. In some areas, open manholes turned hazardous, adding to the risk.
GHMC and Disaster Response Force (DRF) teams are actively working to clear waterlogging and carry out rescue operations. Officials have appealed to residents of low-lying areas to stay vigilant and avoid stepping out unless necessary. The Cyberabad police’s work-from-home advisory is aimed at preventing further inconvenience and ensuring public safety.
