విమాన ప్రయాణికులకు ఊరట కలిగించేలా కేంద్ర పౌర విమానయాన శాఖ కీలక నిర్ణయం తీసుకుంది. ఇకపై అన్ని విమానాల్లో కనీసం 60 శాతం సీట్లను ఎలాంటి అదనపు ఛార్జీలు లేకుండా అందుబాటులో ఉంచాలని ఎయిర్లైన్స్కు ఆదేశాలు జారీ చేసింది. దీంతో ప్రయాణికులు తమకు నచ్చిన సీట్లను అదనపు చెల్లింపులు లేకుండా ఎంచుకునే అవకాశం లభించనుంది.

కొత్త నిబంధనల ప్రకారం ఒకే పీఎన్ఆర్ నంబర్తో బుకింగ్ చేసిన ప్రయాణికులను ఒకే దగ్గర కూర్చోబెట్టేలా సీట్ల కేటాయింపులు చేయాలి. అదనపు ఛార్జీలపై పారదర్శక విధానాలను పాటించాలని ఎయిర్లైన్స్కు స్పష్టం చేసింది.
అలాగే ప్రయాణికుల క్రీడా పరికరాలు, సంగీత వాయిద్యాలను భద్రతా ప్రమాణాలకు అనుగుణంగా రవాణా చేయాలి. పెంపుడు జంతువుల రవాణాపై స్పష్టమైన విధానాలు అమలు చేయాలి. విమానాల ఆలస్యం లేదా రద్దు సందర్భాల్లో ప్రయాణికుల హక్కులను కచ్చితంగా అమలు చేయాలని కేంద్రం ఆదేశించింది. ఈ సమాచారం వెబ్సైట్లు, యాప్లు, బుకింగ్ ప్లాట్ఫారమ్లు, ఎయిర్పోర్ట్ కౌంటర్ల వద్ద మరియు ప్రాంతీయ భాషల్లో అందుబాటులో ఉంచాలని సూచించింది.
In a major relief to air passengers, the Union Civil Aviation Ministry has directed airlines to provide at least 60% of seats without any additional charges. This move aims to curb excessive fees collected for seat selection and improve transparency.
Earlier, passengers had to pay extra for preferred seats like window or aisle, leading to widespread complaints. With the new rules, passengers can now choose seats without paying extra in most cases.
The guidelines also mandate that passengers booked under the same PNR should be seated together. Airlines must follow transparent pricing policies and clearly display passenger rights.
Additionally, clear policies must be implemented for carrying sports equipment, musical instruments, and pets. In cases of delays or cancellations, airlines must strictly follow passenger rights norms and provide information across websites, apps, and airport counters, including in regional languages.
