కమర్షియల్ గ్యాస్ సిలిండర్ల కొరతను తగ్గించేందుకు కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం కీలక నిర్ణయం తీసుకుంది. రాష్ట్రాలకు సరఫరా అయ్యే కమర్షియల్ గ్యాస్ సిలిండర్లను 20 శాతం వరకు పెంచుతున్నట్లు ప్రకటించింది. ఈ నిర్ణయం మార్చి 23 నుంచి అమల్లోకి రానుంది.
ఇటీవల పశ్చిమాసియాలో నెలకొన్న ఉద్రిక్తతల కారణంగా ఇంధన సరఫరాలో అంతరాయం ఏర్పడింది. దీంతో భారత్లో కూడా గ్యాస్ సరఫరాపై ప్రభావం పడింది. గృహ అవసరాలకు ప్రాధాన్యత ఇస్తూ కమర్షియల్ సిలిండర్లపై పరిమితులు విధించడంతో హోటళ్లు, రెస్టారెంట్లు తీవ్ర ఇబ్బందులు ఎదుర్కొన్నాయి.
ఈ నేపథ్యంలో కేంద్రం సరఫరాను పెంచుతూ రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వాలకు లేఖ రాసింది. తాజా పెంపుతో మొత్తం గ్యాస్ కోటా 50 శాతానికి చేరుకుంటుంది. అదనంగా కేటాయించిన గ్యాస్ను హోటళ్లు, రెస్టారెంట్లు, డాబాలు, ఇండస్ట్రియల్ క్యాంటీన్లు, ఫుడ్ ప్రాసెసింగ్ యూనిట్లకు ప్రాధాన్యతగా వినియోగించాలని సూచించింది.
ఇక వలస కార్మికుల కోసం 5 కిలోల గ్యాస్ సిలిండర్లను ఉచితంగా సరఫరా చేయాలని కూడా కేంద్రం నిర్ణయించింది. ఈ అదనపు కోటా దుర్వినియోగం కాకుండా రాష్ట్రాలు పర్యవేక్షించాలని స్పష్టం చేసింది.

The Central government has taken a key decision to ease the shortage of commercial LPG cylinders across the country. It announced a 20 percent increase in the supply of commercial LPG cylinders to states, effective from March 23.
The move comes in the wake of global supply disruptions caused by tensions in West Asia, which impacted fuel availability in India. Earlier restrictions prioritizing domestic usage had created difficulties for hotels, restaurants, and small food businesses.
To address the issue, the Centre has written to all states and Union Territories, increasing the supply quota. With this revision, the total LPG allocation to states will rise to 50 percent.
The government has also directed that priority be given to essential food-related sectors such as hotels, restaurants, roadside eateries, industrial canteens, and food processing units.
