సూపర్ సిక్స్ పథకాల అమలులో మరో అడుగు ముందుకేసిన కూటమి ప్రభుత్వం, స్వాతంత్ర్య దినోత్సవం నుంచే రాష్ట్రవ్యాప్తంగా మహిళలకు ఉచిత బస్సు ప్రయాణ సౌకర్యం కల్పించనుంది. కూటమి ప్రభుత్వం ఎన్నికల హామీల అమలులో వేగం పెంచింది. ఇప్పటికే పింఛన్లు, దీపం, తల్లికి వందనం, అన్నదాత సుఖీభవ వంటి పథకాలు ప్రారంభించిన ప్రభుత్వం, ఇప్పుడు ‘స్త్రీ శక్తి’ పేరుతో మహిళలకు ఉచిత బస్సు ప్రయాణ సౌకర్యం కల్పించనుంది. ఈ పథకాన్ని ముఖ్యమంత్రి చంద్రబాబు ఆగస్టు 15న విజయవాడ పీఎన్బీఎస్లో ప్రారంభించనున్నారు.
Under the scheme, women and transgenders will be able to travel free of cost in five categories of APSRTC buses — Palle Velugu, Ultra Palle Velugu, City Ordinary, Express, and Metro Express. About 2.62 crore women in the state are expected to benefit, with 74% of the corporation’s 11,449 buses covered under the initiative. Special software has been prepared to issue zero-fare tickets to eligible passengers.
ప్రభుత్వ అంచనా ప్రకారం, మహిళలు సాధారణంగా వారానికి నాలుగు సార్లు లేదా ఉద్యోగస్తులైతే ప్రతిరోజూ బస్సుల్లో ప్రయాణిస్తారు. దీంతో నెలకు ఒక్కో మహిళకు రూ.1,000 నుంచి రూ.3,000 వరకు ఆదా అవుతుంది. ప్రారంభంలో కొన్ని రకాల బస్సులకే పరిమితం చేయాలనుకున్నా, పేద, మధ్య తరగతి మహిళలకు దూర ప్రయాణాలు కూడా అందుబాటులో ఉండాలని నిర్ణయించబడింది.
Although the scheme will cost the government around ₹1,942 crore annually — an amount to be reimbursed to APSRTC — officials say it will significantly reduce travel expenses for women and fulfill a major election promise under the Super Six guarantees. The benefit will not apply to Non-stop, Super Luxury, AC, or Ghat route services.
