నల్గోండ జిల్లాలోని నాగార్జునసాగర్ ప్రాజెక్టులోకి ఎగువ ప్రాంతాల వర్షాల కారణంగా శ్రీశైలం నుంచి దాదాపు 1.20 లక్షల క్యూసెక్కుల వరద నీరు వస్తోంది. ఫలితంగా సాగర్ ప్రాజెక్టు నీటిమట్టం 581 అడుగులకు చేరింది, ఇది 590 అడుగుల పూర్తి స్థాయి నీటిమట్టానికి కేవలం 9 అడుగుల దూరంలో ఉంది. ప్రస్తుతం సాగర్ ప్రాజెక్టు నిల్వ సామర్థ్యం 285 టీఎంసీలకు చేరగా, గరిష్ఠ నిల్వ 312 టీఎంసీలు.

ప్రస్తుత వరద ప్రవాహం ఇలాగే కొనసాగితే, మరో రెండు నుండి మూడు రోజుల్లో కుడి, ఎడమ కాలువలకు నీటి విడుదలతో పాటు ప్రధాన పవర్ హౌస్ ద్వారా పూర్తి స్థాయి విద్యుత్ ఉత్పత్తి జరగనుంది. అధికారులు అవసరమైతే క్రెస్ట్ గేట్లు ఎత్తి నీటిని దిగువకు విడుదల చేసే అవకాశం ఉందని తెలిపారు.

ఇదిలా ఉండగా, ఎగువన ఉన్న శ్రీశైలం ప్రాజెక్టుకు జూరాల, సుంకేసుల జలాశయాల నుంచి 1.40 లక్షల క్యూసెక్కుల వరద నీరు వస్తోంది. ఇందులో కుడి, ఎడమ జలవిద్యుత్ కేంద్రాల ద్వారా 69 వేల క్యూసెక్కుల నీటిని విద్యుత్ ఉత్పత్తికి వినియోగిస్తుండగా, మరో 54 వేల క్యూసెక్కుల నీటిని క్రెస్ట్ గేట్ల ద్వారా విడుదల చేస్తున్నారు. పోతిరెడ్డిపాడు నుంచి కూడా 30 వేల క్యూసెక్కుల నీరు వదిలిపెడుతున్నారు.

The Nagarjuna Sagar reservoir in Nalgonda district is witnessing heavy inflows from the Srisailam project, with around 1.20 lakh cusecs of water flowing in. The water level has reached 581 feet, just 9 feet short of the full reservoir level of 590 feet. The current storage stands at 285 TMC against its full capacity of 312 TMC.

If the present inflow continues for the next two to three days, water will be released into the right and left canals, and full-scale power generation will take place through the main powerhouse. Authorities have stated that if necessary, the crest gates will be lifted to release water downstream.

Meanwhile, the Srisailam project upstream is receiving about 1.40 lakh cusecs of water from the Jurala and Sunkesula reservoirs. Of this, 69,000 cusecs are being used for power generation through the right and left powerhouses, while another 54,000 cusecs are being released through the crest gates. Additionally, 30,000 cusecs of water are being released through the Pothireddypadu head regulator.
