తెలంగాణ ముఖ్యమంత్రి రేవంత్ రెడ్డి ఆదేశాలతో నీటి పారుదల శాఖ మంత్రి ఉత్తమ్ కుమార్ రెడ్డి కేంద్రానికి లేఖ రాశారు. ఇందులో, కృష్ణా నదిపై రాష్ట్రానికి రావాల్సిన నీటి వాటాను సాధించేందుకు, ప్రాజెక్టులకు క్లియరెన్సులు, నిర్మాణాలకు ఆర్థిక సహాయం అందించాలని కోరారు.

కృష్ణా నదీ నీటిని గత పది సంవత్సరాలలో ఏపీ అనుచితంగా వినియోగించుకుందని, తెలంగాణకు కేవలం 299 టీఎంసీలు కేటాయించి, ఏపీకి 512 టీఎంసీలు కట్టబెట్టినందున తీవ్ర అన్యాయం జరిగిందన్నారు. శ్రీశైలం ఎగువన ఏపీ నిర్మించిన ప్రాజెక్టులపై కేంద్రం చర్యలు తీసుకోలేదని విమర్శించారు.
గోదావరి జలాల్లోనూ దుష్ప్రభావాలు ఉన్నాయని పేర్కొన్నారు. తుమ్మిడిహెట్టి వద్ద ప్రారంభించిన ప్రాణహిత-చేవెళ్ల ప్రాజెక్టు రూ.11,000 కోట్లు ఖర్చయిన తర్వాత నిలిపివేయడం, దానికి బదులుగా కాళేశ్వరం ప్రాజెక్టు చేపట్టడం వల్ల ప్రజాధనం దుర్వినియోగమైందని పేర్కొన్నారు.

Following the directions of Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, State Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy has written a letter to Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil seeking immediate action from the Centre on long-pending Krishna and Godavari river water issues.
He emphasized the urgent need for project clearances, financial support for ongoing irrigation works, and rightful water allocations for Telangana. These demands are set to be raised during the scheduled meeting with the Union Minister in Delhi on July 16.
Uttam Kumar Reddy pointed out the injustice done to Telangana in Krishna river allocations over the past decade. While Telangana was allotted only 299 TMC, Andhra Pradesh received 512 TMC. He criticized the Centre for not acting against the illegal projects constructed by Andhra Pradesh upstream of Srisailam.
He also highlighted issues related to the Godavari river. The Pranahita-Chevella project, initially started near Tummidihetti with an estimated cost of ₹11,000 crore, was abandoned midway. Instead, the Kaleshwaram project was taken up, which, he said, led to the misuse of public funds.
In his letter, the Minister requested that the Centre promptly address pending irrigation projects, water allocations, and approval issues concerning both the Krishna and Godavari river basins, while also intervening in ongoing violations by Andhra Pradesh.
