తెలంగాణ హైకోర్టు ఇచ్చిన తీర్పు మేరకు సెప్టెంబర్ 30 లోగా స్థానిక సంస్థల ఎన్నికలు నిర్వహించాలని రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వాన్ని ఆదేశించింది. ఈ తీర్పును స్వాగతించిన బీజేపీ రాజ్యసభ సభ్యులు ఆర్.కృష్ణయ్య, వెంటనే 42 శాతం బీసీ రిజర్వేషన్లతో ఎన్నికలు నిర్వహించాలని డిమాండ్ చేశారు.
ఇప్పటికే బీసీలకు రిజర్వేషన్లను రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వం కల్పించే అధికారం ఉందని, రాజ్యాంగంలోని 243D(6) ఆర్టికల్ ప్రకారం స్పష్టం చేశారు. 50 శాతం సీలింగ్ అనే వాదనను తప్పుదారి పట్టించడమేనని, సుప్రీంకోర్టు కూడా కొన్ని సందర్భాల్లో 60 శాతం వరకు రిజర్వేషన్లు చెల్లుబాటవుతాయని స్పష్టం చేసిందని తెలిపారు.
తెలంగాణలో బీసీ జనాభా 42 శాతం కంటే ఎక్కువగా ఉందని డెడికేటెడ్ కమిషన్ నివేదిక ఆధారంగా తెలిపారు. దీనిపై అసెంబ్లీలో చట్టం కూడా ఆమోదించబడిందని గుర్తుచేశారు.
ఇప్పటికే కాంగ్రెస్ పార్టీ తన మేనిఫెస్టోలో, కామారెడ్డి బీసీ డిక్లరేషన్‌లో 42 శాతం బీసీ రిజర్వేషన్ల హామీ ఇచ్చిందని పేర్కొన్నారు. ఇప్పుడు దాన్ని అమలు చేయకపోవడం తగదన్నారు.
బీసీ రిజర్వేషన్లపై జాప్యం చేసి కేంద్రంపై నెపం నెట్టడం సరికాదన్నారు. తమిళనాడు, బీహార్ రాష్ట్రాల్లో రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వాలే జీవోలు జారీ చేసి అమలు చేశాయన్న విషయాన్ని ప్రస్తావించారు.
బీసీలకు న్యాయం జరగాలంటే, రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వం వెంటనే జీవో జారీ చేసి 42 శాతం రిజర్వేషన్లతో ఎన్నికలు నిర్వహించాలన్నారు.

BJP Rajya Sabha MP R. Krishnaiah welcomed the Telangana High Court’s verdict directing the state government to conduct local body elections by September 30. Addressing the media at the BJP state office, he demanded the polls be held with 42% BC reservations, as promised by the Congress in its Kamareddy BC Declaration and election manifesto.
He clarified that, as per Article 243D(6) of the Constitution, the power to decide and implement BC reservations in local body elections lies solely with the state government. He refuted arguments about a “50% reservation ceiling,” calling them misleading. Referring to EWS judgments, he emphasized that the Supreme Court has allowed reservations beyond 50%.
The BC population, according to a dedicated commission report, exceeds 42% in Telangana. A law was already passed in the Assembly in support of this. Therefore, there are no legal or constitutional hurdles to implement the 42% quota.
He accused the Congress government of delaying action by shifting blame to the Centre, despite having all authority to act. He cited Tamil Nadu and Bihar as examples where state governments issued GOs and implemented enhanced quotas.
He concluded by demanding that the Telangana government immediately issue a GO and ensure justice for BCs by conducting elections with 42% reservations.
