జలమండలి ఎండీ కె. అశోక్‌ రెడ్డి పర్యవేక్షణలో కొనసాగుతున్న పనులను అక్టోబర్‌ 25న టెక్నికల్‌ డైరెక్టర్‌ ప్రభు, సీజీఎం రాజశేఖర్‌ పరిశీలించినట్లు కథనంలో పేర్కొన్నారు. పనులను త్వరగా పూర్తి చేయాలని అధికారులకు సూచించినట్లు తెలిపింది.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad water board is taking precautionary measures to strengthen the city’s drinking water supply ahead of the coming summer. According to the supplied report, pipeline interconnection works are being undertaken to facilitate the diversion of Godavari water to areas dependent on the Manjeera and Singur reservoirs if water availability declines.
The report states that the initiative is being taken following directions from Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. The objective is to maintain a reliable drinking water supply even if drought-like conditions and increased summer demand put pressure on existing water sources.
Pipeline Interconnection Works at Velimela
The report states that a 3,000 mm-diameter Godavari Ring Main is being connected to the 1,200 mm-diameter Manjeera Phase III and Phase IV pipelines near Velimela, close to Hyderabad’s Outer Ring Road.
According to the supplied information, HMWS&SB Managing Director K. Ashok Reddy is overseeing the work. Technical Director Prabhu and CGM Rajasekhar reportedly inspected the works on October 25 and instructed officials to expedite their completion.
Alternative Water Supply for Summer
Once the interconnection is completed, the system is expected to provide greater flexibility to divert Godavari water towards areas dependent on the Singur and Manjeera reservoirs, subject to water availability and operational requirements.
