Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has called on southern states to work together to make South India a safer region through stronger inter-state police coordination, technology sharing and joint crime-prevention strategies.
The Chief Minister inaugurated the Southern Regional Police Coordination Committee (SRPCC) conference at the Integrated Command Control Centre (ICCC) in Hyderabad. He stressed that individual state-level efforts alone would not be sufficient to eliminate crime and called for a coordinated action plan involving police departments across state borders.
Revanth Reddy said Telangana was ready to coordinate its technological infrastructure and ICCC systems with neighbouring states. He highlighted the need for continuous police reforms to address emerging challenges, including cybercrime, drug trafficking and traffic management.
The Chief Minister also outlined Telangana’s policing initiatives, including the Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Malkajgiri police commissionerates, along with specialised agencies such as HYDRAA, EAGLE and TG-SAFE. He referred to the state’s initiatives in cybercrime prevention, drug control and water-body protection.
On police welfare, he highlighted the establishment of the Young India Police School for children of police personnel. He also said families of police personnel who die in the line of duty receive ex-gratia compensation ranging from ₹1 crore to ₹2 crore, depending on rank and service, along with other eligible welfare benefits.
The conference brought together senior police officials and representatives from southern states and Union Territories to strengthen coordination on regional security and crime prevention.
