The Telangana government has initiated the process for receiving applications for new pensions under the Cheyutha scheme. Applicants will have to submit documents including Aadhaar, proof of age, a ration or Food Security Card and the first page of their bank passbook. Those who do not meet the prescribed eligibility, income, landholding and other conditions will not qualify for the pension.
The government is expected to sanction new pensions in phases, with priority reportedly being given to women, persons with disabilities and those suffering from certain health conditions. The information provided states that August 31 has been fixed as the last date for applications.
Widows, single women, persons affected by filariasis, dialysis patients, persons with disabilities, toddy tappers and handloom workers, as well as people affected by thalassemia, sickle-cell anaemia and haemophilia, are among the categories covered under the pension provisions.
