The Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) has launched a comprehensive monsoon preparedness drive across Hyderabad and surrounding areas to reduce power outages and enhance public safety during the rainy season.
As part of the initiative, officials have begun inspections of power infrastructure, including electric poles, distribution lines, transformers and feeders. The utility is undertaking preventive maintenance works to identify and rectify potential faults before heavy rainfall impacts the network.
TGSPDCL has also intensified tree-trimming operations near power lines to prevent disruptions caused by falling branches during strong winds and storms. Special attention is being given to vulnerable locations and feeders that have historically witnessed frequent interruptions. Recent utility directives include field inspections under the “Walk Along the Line” programme and a dedicated maintenance drive for poles and power lines.
Officials said emergency response teams and maintenance crews have been kept on standby to ensure faster restoration of electricity supply during adverse weather conditions. The initiative is aimed at improving service reliability, reducing safety hazards and ensuring uninterrupted power supply across Hyderabad during the monsoon season.
