హైదరాబాద్లో మహిళల భద్రతను మరింత బలోపేతం చేయడంతో పాటు మహిళలకు ఉపాధి అవకాశాలను కల్పించే లక్ష్యంతో తెలంగాణ పోలీసుల మహిళా భద్రత విభాగం (Women Safety Wing) ‘స్త్రీ రైడ్’ కార్యక్రమాన్ని ప్రారంభించింది.
శనివారం హైదరాబాద్లో ప్రారంభమైన ఈ కార్యక్రమం ద్వారా మహిళా ప్రయాణికులకు మరింత సురక్షితమైన రవాణా సేవలు అందించడమే ప్రధాన లక్ష్యంగా అధికారులు తెలిపారు. మహిళలే డ్రైవర్లుగా పనిచేసే విధంగా ప్రత్యేక శిక్షణతో ఈ సేవలను అందుబాటులోకి తీసుకురానున్నారు.
పురుషుల ఆధిపత్యం ఎక్కువగా ఉన్న రవాణా రంగంలో మహిళలకు ఉపాధి అవకాశాలను విస్తరించడంలో ఈ కార్యక్రమం కీలక పాత్ర పోషించనుందని మహిళా భద్రత విభాగం అధికారులు పేర్కొన్నారు.
మహిళలు నిర్వహించే రవాణా సేవలపై ప్రజల్లో విశ్వాసాన్ని పెంపొందించడంతో పాటు మహిళల ఆర్థిక సాధికారతకు కూడా ఈ కార్యక్రమం తోడ్పడుతుందని అధికారులు తెలిపారు.
తెలంగాణ ప్రభుత్వం మరియు పోలీసు శాఖ మహిళల భద్రత కోసం ఇప్పటికే అమలు చేస్తున్న పలు కార్యక్రమాలకు అనుబంధంగా ‘స్త్రీ రైడ్’ కార్యక్రమాన్ని తీసుకొచ్చినట్లు వెల్లడించారు. భవిష్యత్తులో ఈ సేవలను రాష్ట్రంలోని ఇతర ప్రాంతాలకు కూడా విస్తరించే అవకాశాలు ఉన్నాయని అధికారులు సూచించారు.

The Telangana Police Women Safety Wing (WSW) has launched a new initiative titled “Sthree Ride” in Hyderabad to enhance women’s safety during daily travel while creating employment opportunities for women drivers.
The programme was launched on Saturday as part of the state’s broader efforts to strengthen women-centric safety infrastructure and improve secure transportation options for female passengers.
According to officials, the initiative will encourage professionally trained women drivers to operate vehicles under the Sthree Ride programme. The objective is to provide safer travel choices for women while increasing women’s participation in the transport sector.
Officials said the project addresses two important goals simultaneously: improving passenger safety and promoting economic empowerment for women. The initiative is expected to create new livelihood opportunities in a field traditionally dominated by men.
