హైదరాబాద్ శివారు కోహెడలో అంతర్జాతీయ స్థాయి పండ్ల మార్కెట్ నిర్మాణానికి ప్రభుత్వం కీలక అడుగులు వేస్తోంది. సర్వే పనులు పూర్తవడంతో త్వరలోనే టెండర్ల ప్రక్రియ ప్రారంభమవుతుందని మంత్రి తుమ్మల నాగేశ్వరరావు తెలిపారు.
మెడ్చల్-మల్కాజిగిరి జిల్లా అబ్దుల్లాపూర్మెట్ మండలం కోహెడలో 200 ఎకరాలకు పైగా విస్తీర్ణంలో సుమారు రూ.1000 కోట్ల వ్యయంతో ఈ గ్లోబల్ గ్రీన్ మార్కెట్ నిర్మించనున్నారు. ఈ మార్కెట్ పండ్లు మాత్రమే కాకుండా పూలు, డ్రై ఫ్రూట్స్, పాల ఉత్పత్తులు, సీఫుడ్ వంటి ఉత్పత్తుల ఎగుమతులకు కేంద్రంగా నిలవనుంది.
మార్కెట్లో అంతర్జాతీయ ప్రమాణాలతో కూడిన క్వాలిటీ టెస్టింగ్ ల్యాబ్స్, 400కు పైగా రిటైల్ అవుట్లెట్లు, నాలుగు భారీ వేలం హాళ్లు ఏర్పాటు చేయనున్నారు. పండ్ల నిల్వ కోసం అత్యాధునిక కోల్డ్ స్టోరేజ్, ప్రాసెసింగ్ యూనిట్లు కూడా ఏర్పాటు చేయనున్నారు. ఔటర్ రింగ్ రోడ్ సమీపంలో ఉండటం వల్ల రవాణా సౌకర్యం మెరుగ్గా ఉంటుందని మంత్రి పేర్కొన్నారు.
ప్రస్తుతం బాటసింగారంలో కొనసాగుతున్న తాత్కాలిక మార్కెట్ కార్యకలాపాలు ఈ ప్రాజెక్ట్ పూర్తయ్యాక కోహెడకు మార్చనున్నారు. దీనివల్ల రైతులకు నేరుగా లాభం చేకూరడమే కాకుండా దళారీల ప్రభావం తగ్గుతుందని తెలిపారు. వేల సంఖ్యలో ఉపాధి అవకాశాలు కూడా లభిస్తాయని చెప్పారు.
ఇక రాష్ట్రవ్యాప్తంగా ధాన్యం కొనుగోళ్లకు సిద్ధంగా ఉండాలని అధికారులకు ఆదేశించారు. కొనుగోలు కేంద్రాల్లో మౌలిక వసతులు కల్పించి రైతులకు ఇబ్బందులు లేకుండా చూడాలని సూచించారు. అక్రమాలకు పాల్పడే వ్యాపారులపై కఠిన చర్యలు తీసుకుంటామని స్పష్టం చేశారు.

The Telangana government has taken a major step towards establishing an international fruit market near Hyderabad in Koheda. With the survey works completed, Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao announced that tenders will be invited soon.
The project will be developed in Koheda village under Abdullapurmet mandal in Medchal-Malkajgiri district, spanning over 200 acres with an estimated cost of ₹1000 crore. The global green market is expected to become a major export hub for fruits, flowers, dry fruits, dairy products, and seafood.
The facility will include international-standard quality testing laboratories, around 400 retail outlets, and four large auction halls. Advanced cold storage and processing units will also be established to preserve perishable goods. Its proximity to the Outer Ring Road is expected to boost logistics and transport efficiency.
Temporary trading activities currently operating in Batasingaram will be shifted to Koheda once the project is completed. The initiative is expected to reduce middlemen involvement and ensure better prices for farmers, while also generating employment opportunities.
The minister also directed officials to prepare for statewide paddy procurement. He stressed the need to ensure proper facilities at procurement centers and warned of strict action against traders involved in irregularities. Direct payments to farmers will be ensured.
