జాతీయ రహదారులపై ప్రయాణించే వాహనదారులకు కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం కొత్త ఫీజు విధానాన్ని అమలు చేసింది. ఏప్రిల్ 15 నుంచి ఈ నిబంధనలు అమల్లోకి వచ్చాయి. ముఖ్యంగా కమెర్షియల్ వాహనాల ఓనర్లకు ఇది కీలక మార్పుగా మారింది.
ఇప్పటివరకు ఉన్న విధానంలో మార్పులు చేస్తూ, పరిమితికి మించి సరుకు తీసుకెళ్లే వాహనాలపై భారీగా జరిమానాలు విధించాలని కేంద్ర రోడ్డు రవాణా శాఖ నిర్ణయించింది. అనుమతించిన బరువు కంటే ఎక్కువగా లోడ్ ఉంటే టోల్ ఫీజు పలు రెట్లు పెరుగుతుంది.
కొత్త నిబంధనల ప్రకారం 10 శాతం వరకు ఓవర్ లోడ్ ఉన్న వాహనాలకు ఎటువంటి అదనపు జరిమానా ఉండదు. అయితే 10 నుంచి 40 శాతం వరకు ఓవర్ లోడ్ ఉంటే సాధారణ టోల్ ఫీజుకు రెండింతలు చెల్లించాలి. 40 శాతం కంటే ఎక్కువ ఓవర్ లోడ్ ఉంటే నాలుగు రెట్లు వరకు టోల్ ఫీజు విధిస్తారు.
ఈ పెనాల్టీలు ఫాస్టాగ్ ద్వారా వసూలు చేయబడతాయి. టోల్ ప్లాజాల వద్ద బరువు కొలిచే డిజిటల్ యంత్రాలు ఏర్పాటు చేసిన చోట మాత్రమే ఈ ఫీజులు అమల్లో ఉంటాయి. బరువు కొలిచే సదుపాయం లేని టోల్ గేట్ల వద్ద అదనపు ఫీజు ఉండదు.
రోడ్ల భద్రతను పెంచడం, రహదారి మౌలిక వసతులను కాపాడటం లక్ష్యంగా ఈ నిర్ణయం తీసుకున్నట్లు కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం తెలిపింది. అధిక బరువుతో ప్రయాణించే వాహనాల వల్ల రహదారులు దెబ్బతినడం, ప్రమాదాలు పెరగడం వంటి సమస్యలను నివారించడమే లక్ష్యంగా ఈ చర్యలు తీసుకున్నారు.

The Central Government has implemented a new toll fee policy for vehicles traveling on National Highways, effective from April 15. The revised rules are particularly significant for commercial vehicle owners transporting goods.
Under the updated regulations, strict penalties will be imposed on vehicles carrying loads beyond the permitted limit. The toll charges will increase based on the extent of overloading.
As per the new system, no penalty will be imposed if the overload is up to 10 percent. However, if the overload ranges between 10 percent and 40 percent, vehicle owners will have to pay double the standard toll fee. For loads exceeding 40 percent, the toll fee can go up to four times the regular charge.
The penalties will be collected through FASTag systems at toll plazas. These charges will apply only at locations where digital weighing systems are installed. No additional fee will be charged at toll plazas without such facilities.
The Ministry of Road Transport stated that the objective of these changes is to enhance road safety and protect highway infrastructure. Overloaded vehicles are known to cause significant damage to roads and increase the risk of accidents, prompting the government to enforce stricter regulations.
