అమెరికా అధ్యక్షుడు డొనాల్డ్ ట్రంప్ భారత్‌పై 25 శాతం సుంకాలు విధిస్తూ తీసుకున్న తాజా నిర్ణయం భారత ఎగుమతులపై గట్టిగా పడనుంది. ఆగస్ట్ 1 నుండి అమలులోకి వచ్చిన ఈ టారిఫ్ బాంబ్‌తో టెక్స్‌టైల్, ఆభరణాలు, ఫార్మా, ఎలక్ట్రానిక్స్ రంగాలకు తీవ్రంగా నష్టాలు వాటిల్లనున్నట్లు నిపుణులు చెబుతున్నారు. దీనిపై కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం సూటిగా స్పందించింది.

హైదరాబాద్, ఆగస్ట్ 1: భారత్‌ను మిత్రదేశంగా భావిస్తున్నట్టు పదేపదే చెప్పిన ట్రంప్ ఇప్పుడు ఆ దేశ ఉత్పత్తులపై అత్యధిక సుంకాలు విధిస్తూ నిర్ణయం తీసుకోవడం న్యూఢెల్లీకి షాక్‌గా మారింది. ట్రంప్ ట్వీట్‌లో “భారతదేశం ప్రపంచంలోనే అత్యధిక సుంకాలు విధించే దేశాల్లో ఒకటి” అని పేర్కొంటూ, రష్యాతో భారత్‌ సన్నిహిత సంబంధాలూ ఈ నిర్ణయానికి మరో ప్రధాన కారణంగా పేర్కొన్నారు.

Despite portraying India as a friend, Trump accused it of imposing high tariffs on American goods and cited India’s ties with Russia as one of the driving factors behind the tariff decision.

భారత్‌పై ఈ 25 శాతం టారిఫ్‌ల ప్రభావం టెక్స్‌టైల్, ఆభరణాలు, ఔషధాలు, తోలు ఉత్పత్తులు, సముద్ర ఉత్పత్తులపై తీవ్రమయ్యే అవకాశం ఉంది. టెక్స్‌టైల్ రంగంలో ఉద్యోగాలు కోల్పోయే ప్రమాదం ఉందని పరిశ్రమ వర్గాలు హెచ్చరిస్తున్నాయి. ఇప్పటికే అమెరికా మార్కెట్‌లో 2.5 బిలియన్ డాలర్లకు పైగా ఎగుమతులు జరుపుతున్న టెక్స్‌టైల్ రంగం, 7.5 బిలియన్ల ఫార్మా ఎగుమతులు, 8.5 బిలియన్ల రత్నాలు-ఆభరణాల రంగాలు తీవ్రంగా ప్రభావితమయ్యేలా ఉన్నాయి.

Experts warn that India’s major export sectors — textiles, gems & jewellery, pharmaceuticals, leather, and marine products — will bear the brunt of these tariffs. The textile industry alone could lose thousands of jobs due to shrinking US demand.

కేంద్ర వాణిజ్యశాఖ మంత్రి పీయూష్ గోయల్ ఈ వ్యవహారంపై స్పందిస్తూ – ‘‘భారత్ ప్రపంచంలో వేగంగా అభివృద్ధి చెందుతున్న ఆర్థిక వ్యవస్థ. మూడో అతిపెద్ద ఆర్థిక శక్తిగా మారబోతున్నాం. అమెరికాతో వ్యాపార సమస్యలను చర్చల ద్వారా పరిష్కరించాలనే దిశగా భారత్ కృషి చేస్తోంది,’’ అన్నారు.

Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal responded that India remains one of the fastest-growing economies in the world and is working toward resolving the tariff conflict through dialogue.

భారత అధికారులు, ట్రంప్ అడ్మినిస్ట్రేషన్ మధ్య ఈ నెలాఖరులో భేటీ జరిగే అవకాశం ఉంది. దీనిలో భాగంగా సమగ్ర వాణిజ్య ఒప్పందం కుదిరే అవకాశముందని భావిస్తున్నారు. మరోవైపు వ్యాపార సంఘాలు ఈ నిర్ణయాన్ని వ్యతిరేకిస్తూ ప్రభుత్వానికి సాయం అందించాలని డిమాండ్ చేస్తున్నాయి.

Talks are expected later this month between Indian officials and the Trump administration, possibly leading to a broader trade agreement. Meanwhile, Indian trade associations are urging government intervention.
