సిరిసిల్ల పవర్లూమ్ కార్మికులు ఎదుర్కొంటున్న కష్టాలపై కేటీఆర్ ఆందోళన వ్యక్తం చేశారు. రూ. 35.48 కోట్ల బ్యాక్ బిల్లింగ్ బకాయిలను మాఫీ చేయాలని, అలాగే పవర్లూమ్స్కు రావాల్సిన రూ. 101.77 కోట్ల సబ్సిడీని ప్రభుత్వం తక్షణమే విడుదల చేయాలని డిప్యూటీ సీఎం, ఆర్థిక, ఇంధన శాఖల మంత్రి భట్టి విక్రమార్కకు లేఖలో విజ్ఞప్తి చేశారు.
సిరిసిల్లలో సుమారు 25 వేల పవర్లూమ్స్ నడుస్తున్నాయని, వీటిని నిలబెట్టేందుకు గతంలో బతుకమ్మ చీరల పథకాన్ని ప్రవేశపెట్టామని కేటీఆర్ గుర్తు చేశారు. ఆ పథకం వల్ల నేతన్నలకు స్థిరమైన ఆదాయం లభించిందని తెలిపారు. అయితే ప్రస్తుతం సబ్సిడీలు విడుదల కాకపోవడం, బ్యాక్ బిల్లింగ్ భారంతో కార్మికులు తిరిగి ఆత్మహత్యల దిశగా వెళ్తున్నారని ఆందోళన వ్యక్తం చేశారు.
హైకోర్టు ఆదేశాల మేరకు 127 ఎస్ఎస్ఐ యూనిట్లు, 191 ఇతర యూనిట్లపై కలిపి రూ. 35.48 కోట్ల బకాయిలు పడినట్లు వివరించారు. ఈ మొత్తాన్ని చెల్లించే స్థితిలో కార్మికులు లేరని, అందువల్ల పవర్లూమ్స్ నిలిచిపోయే పరిస్థితి ఏర్పడిందని తెలిపారు.
అదనంగా, ప్రభుత్వం నుండి రావాల్సిన రూ. 101.77 కోట్ల సబ్సిడీ నిలిచిపోవడంతో సిరిసిల్ల కో-ఆపరేటివ్ ఎలక్ట్రిక్ సప్లై సొసైటీ (CESS) తీవ్రమైన ఇబ్బందులు ఎదుర్కొంటోందని కేటీఆర్ లేఖలో పేర్కొన్నారు. టీజీఎన్పీడీసీఎల్కు చెల్లించాల్సిన విద్యుత్ ఖర్చులను కూడా సొసైటీ భరించలేకపోతున్నదని చెప్పారు.
నేతన్నల జీవనోపాధి కాపాడటానికి ప్రభుత్వం వెంటనే స్పందించాలని, బకాయిలను మాఫీ చేసి సబ్సిడీలను విడుదల చేయాలని కేటీఆర్ విజ్ఞప్తి చేశారు.

KTR appealed for the waiver of ₹35.48 crore back-billing dues and the release of ₹101.77 crore electricity subsidy pending for the powerloom sector.
He highlighted that around 25,000 powerlooms are operating in Sirisilla, a region known for its textile industry. To sustain the sector during his tenure, the Bathukamma Saree scheme was introduced, which provided steady employment and income for the weavers. However, with subsidies not being released and back-billing charges piling up, workers are again being pushed towards suicides, KTR warned.
As per High Court directions, 127 SSI units and 191 other units together were burdened with back-billing dues amounting to ₹35.48 crore. KTR said the weavers were in no position to pay such huge amounts, forcing them to shut down their looms.
He further stated that the ₹101.77 crore subsidy owed to the powerlooms has not been released by the government, leaving the Sirisilla Cooperative Electric Supply Society (CESS) in deep financial trouble. The society is unable to pay electricity purchase charges to TGNPDCL, worsening the crisis.
KTR urged the government to act immediately to save the livelihoods of Sirisilla weavers by waiving the dues and releasing the pending subsidies.
