In a major relief to passengers, Indian Railways will soon allow rescheduling of confirmed train tickets without any additional charges. The feature is expected to roll out in January 2026, enabling passengers to change their travel dates directly on the IRCTC website or mobile app without the need to cancel and rebook.

At present, passengers must cancel their confirmed tickets and pay cancellation fees before booking a new one. For instance, AC First Class tickets cost ₹240 + GST to cancel, AC 2 Tier ₹200 + GST, AC 3 Tier ₹180 + GST, Sleeper ₹120, and Second Class ₹60.
కొత్త సౌకర్యం ద్వారా, టికెట్ రద్దు అవసరం లేకుండా ప్రయాణ తేదీని ఆన్లైన్లో మార్చుకోవచ్చు. సీట్లు అందుబాటులో ఉన్నంత వరకు రీషెడ్యూలింగ్ చేయవచ్చు. ఒకవేళ కొత్త తేదీ ఛార్జీ ఎక్కువగా ఉంటే తేడా మొత్తాన్ని మాత్రమే చెల్లించాలి; తగ్గిన ఛార్జీలకు అదనపు రుసుము ఉండదు.
With the new feature, passengers can change their journey dates online without cancelling tickets. The change will depend on seat availability. If the fare on the new date is higher, only the difference needs to be paid; if lower, no refund or extra fee applies.

As an example, if you have a confirmed ticket for Sunday and the plan changes, you can simply shift your ticket to a later available date — avoiding cancellation or rebooking hassles.
ఆఫ్లైన్ మార్పుల కోసం:
ప్రయాణికులు రైలు బయలుదేరడానికి కనీసం 48 గంటల ముందు సమీపంలోని రైల్వే రిజర్వేషన్ కౌంటర్కి వెళ్లి కొత్త తేదీని కోరవచ్చు. ఈ ప్రక్రియలో ప్రయాణికుడు ఒక ఫారమ్ నింపి, ఒరిజినల్ టికెట్ సమర్పించాలి. టికెట్ కేటగిరీ ఆధారంగా రూ.20 నుంచి రూ.65 వరకు రీషెడ్యూల్ ఛార్జ్ వసూలు చేస్తారు.
For offline changes:
Passengers must visit the nearest railway reservation counter at least 48 hours before departure, submit their original ticket, and fill out a rescheduling form. Depending on the class, a nominal fee of ₹20–₹65 per passenger will apply.
