CM demands national festival status for Medaram Jatara – unveils temple development plan
ఆసియాలోనే అతిపెద్ద గిరిజన జాతరగా ప్రసిద్ధి చెందిన మేడారం సమ్మక్క-సారలమ్మ జాతరకు జాతీయ పండుగ గుర్తింపు ఇవ్వాలని తెలంగాణ ముఖ్యమంత్రి రేవంత్ రెడ్డి కేంద్రాన్ని కోరారు. కుంభమేళా స్థాయిలో జరిగే ఈ మహాజాతరకు తగినన్ని నిధులు విడుదల చేయాలని కూడా ఆయన డిమాండ్ చేశారు.
Telangana CM Revanth Reddy has urged the Centre to declare the Medaram Sammakka-Saralamma Jatara, Asia’s largest tribal festival, as a national festival. He also demanded central funding on the lines of Kumbh Mela to support the grand event.
మేడారంలో జరిగిన ఉన్నతస్థాయి సమీక్షా సమావేశంలో ఆలయ ప్రాంగణ అభివృద్ధి ప్రణాళికపై ముఖ్యమంత్రి సమీక్షించారు. అనంతరం జరిగిన సభలో గద్దెల పునర్నిర్మాణ ప్రణాళిక నమూనాను ఆవిష్కరించారు. “సమ్మక్క సారలమ్మ గద్దెలు, ప్రాంగణ పునర్నిర్మాణం చేపట్టే అవకాశం దక్కడం నా జీవితంలో అరుదైన గౌరవం” అని ముఖ్యమంత్రి అన్నారు.
The CM reviewed the permanent development plan for the temple premises at Medaram and later unveiled the model for the reconstruction of the Sammakka-Saralamma temple platforms. He termed it a rare honour in his public life to lead the redevelopment of the shrine.
ఆదివాసీలు దేశానికి మూల వాసులు అని గుర్తుచేసిన సీఎం, వారి సంక్షేమం కోసం ప్రత్యేక ప్రణాళికలు అమలు చేస్తున్నామని చెప్పారు. ఇళ్ల కేటాయింపు నుండి అభివృద్ధి కార్యక్రమాల వరకు గిరిజనులకు తగిన వాటా కల్పిస్తున్నామని స్పష్టం చేశారు. “దశాబ్దాలుగా జరిగిన అన్యాయాన్ని సరిదిద్దే దిశగా ప్రజా ప్రభుత్వం ముందుకు వెళ్తోంది” అని అన్నారు.
Highlighting that tribals are the original inhabitants of the country, the CM stated that his government is committed to their welfare. From housing schemes to development works, adequate quota and share are being provided to tribal communities, he said.
మేడారం ఆలయ అభివృద్ధిలో రాతి కట్టడాలను ఉపయోగించి, రాబోయే తరాలకు నిలిచే విధంగా నిర్మాణాలు చేపడతామని తెలిపారు. సమ్మక్క-సారలమ్మ జాతరను కుంభమేళా స్థాయిలో జాతీయ పండుగగా గుర్తించాలని మళ్లీ కేంద్రానికి విజ్ఞప్తి చేశారు.
He also announced that stone structures would be used in redevelopment to preserve tribal traditions for generations. Reiterating his demand, he urged the Centre to recognise Medaram Jatara as a national festival.
ఈ సభలో మంత్రులు కోనసాగరేఖ, పొంగులేటి సుధాకర్ రెడ్డి, సీతక్క, అదలూరి లక్ష్మణ్, సలహాదారు వేమ నరేందర్ రెడ్డి, గిరిజన ప్రాంత ప్రజా ప్రతినిధులు పాల్గొన్నారు.
The meeting was attended by ministers Konda Surekha, Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, Seethakka, Adluri Laxman, advisor Vem Narender Reddy, tribal MPs, MLAs, MLCs and representatives.
