తెలంగాణలో బీసీ రిజర్వేషన్లను సవాల్ చేసిన పిటిషన్పై హస్తక్షేపం అవసరం లేదని సుప్రీంకోర్టు స్పష్టం చేసింది. The Supreme Court refused to entertain the petition challenging BC reservations in Telangana.
తెలంగాణలో స్థానిక సంస్థల ఎన్నికల్లో బీసీలకు 42 శాతం రిజర్వేషన్లు ఇవ్వడాన్ని వ్యతిరేకిస్తూ వంగా గోపాల్ రెడ్డి పిటిషన్ దాఖలు చేశారు. హైకోర్టు స్టే ఇవ్వకపోవడంతో సుప్రీంకోర్టును ఆశ్రయించినట్టు పిటిషనర్ చెప్పగా, హైకోర్టు తిరస్కరిస్తే నేరుగా సుప్రీంకోర్టుకే వస్తారా అని ధర్మాసనం ప్రశ్నించింది. హైకోర్టులో ఇదే విషయంలో రెండు పిటిషన్లు పెండింగ్లో ఉన్నాయని తెలంగాణ ప్రభుత్వ తరపున న్యాయవాదులు తెలిపారు.
ఆర్టికల్ 32 కింద ఈ పిటిషన్ ఎందుకు దాఖలు చేశారని సుప్రీంకోర్టు ప్రశ్నించింది. హైకోర్టులో ఇప్పటికే విచారణ కొనసాగుతున్నందున ఈ పిటిషన్ను స్వీకరించబోమని జస్టిస్ విక్రమ్నాథ్, జస్టిస్ సందీప్ మెహతా ధర్మాసనం స్పష్టం చేసింది.
తెలంగాణలో బీసీ రిజర్వేషన్ల అంశం రాజకీయంగా కూడా చర్చనీయాంశంగా మారింది. స్థానిక సంస్థల ఎన్నికల్లో 50 శాతం మించిన రిజర్వేషన్లు ఇవ్వబోతున్నారని వంగా గోపాల్ రెడ్డి పిటిషన్లో పేర్కొన్నారు. ఈ రిజర్వేషన్లు అమలు చేస్తామని కాంగ్రెస్ ప్రభుత్వం ప్రకటించిన నేపథ్యంలో కేసు ప్రాధాన్యత సంతరించుకుంది.
The Supreme Court has made it clear that there is no need to interfere in the petition filed against BC reservations in Telangana. The apex court refused to entertain the plea challenging the state’s reservation policy.
Wanga Gopal Reddy had filed a petition opposing the 42% reservations for Backward Classes in local body elections. He stated that he approached the Supreme Court only after the High Court did not grant a stay. In response, the bench questioned whether petitioners could directly approach the Supreme Court whenever the High Court declines a stay.
Lawyers representing the Telangana government informed the court that two petitions on the same issue are already pending before the High Court. The bench also asked why a petition was filed under Article 32 in such a situation.
Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta clarified that since the matter is already under consideration in the High Court, the Supreme Court will not take up this petition.
The issue of BC reservations in Telangana has become politically significant. Wanga Gopal Reddy’s petition claimed that reservations in local body elections would exceed 50 percent. With the Congress government indicating that such reservations will be implemented, the case has gained further relevance.
