గుజరాత్‌లో బుధవారం ఉదయం జరిగిన వంతెన కూలిన ఘోర ప్రమాదంలో మృతుల సంఖ్య పెరుగుతోంది. వడోదర జిల్లా పద్రా పట్టణానికి సమీపంలోని గంభీర గ్రామం వద్ద మహీసాగర్ నదిపై ఉన్న నాలుగు దశాబ్దాల పాత గంభీరా-ముజ్‌పూర్ వంతెన కూలిపోవడంతో భారీ ప్రాణ నష్టం జరిగింది. ఈ ప్రమాదంలో ఇప్పటివరకు 15 మంది మృతిచెందగా, మరో ముగ్గురి కోసం గాలింపు కొనసాగుతోంది.
బుధవారం ఉదయం 7 గంటల సమయంలో వంతెన మధ్యభాగం ఒక్కసారిగా కూలిపోయింది. అందులో ఉన్న కార్లు, ద్విచక్ర వాహనాలు నదిలోకి పడిపోయాయి. అప్పట్లో వంతెనపై ప్రయాణిస్తున్న వారు లోతైన నీటిలో గల్లంతయ్యారు. గురువారం ఉదయం అదనంగా నాలుగు మృతదేహాలు వెలికితీయడంతో మృతుల సంఖ్య పెరిగింది. జిల్లా కలెక్టర్ అనిల్ ధమేలియా వివరాల ప్రకారం, మరికొందరు వాహనాలలోనే ఉండే అవకాశముంది.
ఇటీవల కురిసిన వర్షాలతో నది ఒడ్డున పేరుకుపోయిన బురద, ఎడతెరిపిలేని వర్షాలు సహాయక చర్యలకు తీవ్ర ఆటంకంగా మారాయి. ఎన్డీఆర్ఎఫ్, ఎస్‌డీఆర్ఎఫ్ బృందాలు 4 కిలోమీటర్ల మేర గాలింపు చర్యలు కొనసాగిస్తున్నాయి. వంతెన కింద చిక్కుకున్న వాహనాలను వెలికితీయడానికి అధికారులు ప్రత్యేక వంతెన నిర్మిస్తున్నారు.
